Zakat Al-Fitr (Fitrana) 2017

Alhamdulillah we have come to that time of year again where we are being given a chance to earn more rewards from our Lord Allah SWT by us giving in Zakaat Al-Fitr (Fitrana).

Zakaat al-fitr is obligatory upon every Muslim, if he has one saa’ or more than he needs of food for himself and his family on the day and night of Eid.

Zakaat al-Fitr was mentioned in many ahaadeeth, such as the following:

Al-Bukhaari (1503) and Muslim (984) narrated that Ibn ‘Umar (may Allaah be pleased with him) said: The Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) enjoined zakaat al-fitr, a saa’ of dates, or a saa’ of barley, for every Muslim, slave or free, male or female, young or old, and he enjoined that it be given before the people go out to the prayer.

Abu Dawood (1609) narrated that Ibn ‘Abbaas said: The Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) enjoined zakaat al-fitr as a purification for those who fasted from idle or obscene talk, and so as to feed the poor. Whoever gives it before the prayer, it is accepted zakaah and whoever gives it after the prayer, it is ordinary charity. Classed as hasan by al-Albaani in Saheeh Abi Dawood.

Zakaat Al-Fitr this year is £2.50 per person.

This year we will be sending our Zakat Al-Fitr (Fitrana) to Nepal. It will be distributed by Madinah University graduates who will also use it as an opportunity to give dawah inshaAllah.

It is important that your Zakaat Al Fitr reaches the needy families before the Eid Salah in order for it to be a purification of your deeds in Ramadan. Our partner charity delivering the Zakat Al Fitr has confirmed that your Zakat Al Fitr will reach before the Eid Salah as well as ensuring that it has a 100% donation policy.

Final day for Zakaat Al-Fitr cash payments is Friday 23 June at Salaatul Jumu’ah, and for online payments via our website is at 15:00 on Friday 23 June 2017 inshaAllah.

We can no longer take online donations at CICT. You can pay your Zakaat Al-Fitr (Fitrana) directly to Ummah serve, simply click here or on the image above and follow the instructions inshaAllah.

May Allah reward you all.
