Virtues of the first 10 days of Dhu'l HijjahOfficial Decision and Announcement of the High Judiciary Council (HJC) of Saudi Arabia regarding the beginning of Dhul-Hijjah

AsalaamuAlaikum wa Rahmatullah,

Dhul-Hijjah has commenced as of Maghrib this evening, Monday 14 September 2015, and the Muslims performing Hajj will be in ‘Arafah on Wednesday 23 September 2015 (9 Dhul-Hijjah 1436), and the Muslim Ummah shall be celebrating Eid Al Adha on Thursday 24 September 2015, (10 Dhul-Hijjah 1436), InshaAllah!

Hadith related to Dhul Hijjah, Day of Arafaat and Eid

“There are No days in which righteous deeds are more beloved to Allaah than these 10 days.” [Bukhaari]
“There are No days greater in the sight of Allaah (including Ramadhaan) & in which righteous deeds are more beloved to Him than these 10 days, so during this time recite a great deal of Tahleel (“La ilaaha ill-Allaah”), Takbeer (Allaahu Akbar) and Tahmeed (Al Hamdu Lil-laah).” [Ahmad]
A Sunnah of the Prophet SAW: “When you see the new moon of Dhul-Hijjah, if any one of you wants to offer a sacrifice, then he should stop cutting his hair and nails until he has offered his sacrifice.” [Muslim]
A Sunnah of the Prophet SAW: “The Prophet SAW used to fast on the first 9 days of Dhul-Hijjah and the day of ‘Ashoora’, and 3 days each month – the first Monday and second Thursday of the month”. [Nasaa’i, Abu Dawood]
Regarding fasting on the Day of ‘Arafaah, the Prophet SAW said, “It is an expiation for the sins of the previous year and of the coming year.” [Muslim]
“There is no day on which Allaah frees more people from the Fire than the Day of ‘Arafaah. He comes close and expresses His pride to the angels, saying, ‘What do people want?’” [Muslim]
Takbeer of Tashreeq:
After each Fardh Salaah Recite from Fajr of 9th Dhul Hijjah (Fri 3 Oct) until Asr of 13th (Tues 7 Oct)”Allaahu Akbar — Allaahu Akbar — Laa ilaaha il-lAllaahu — WAllaahu Akbar — Allaahu Akbar — Wa Lil-laahil-hamd”
(Allaah is the Greatest — Allaah is the Greatest — there is no god but Allaah Allaah is the Greatest and to Allaah be all praise)
